This week, I’m developing a theme about photographs.

What comes to mind?

I’m making a distinction from the digital 'photo'; to me, a photograph means physical, developed, a tactile memento. I started thinking about them the other day, specifically a set of photographs that I threw away. Getting some details together for the retreat to Spain made me think about a couple of days I'd spent in San José, a fishing port in el Cabo de Gata, years ago. A few days in a long summer of trains and memories, and several films' worth of photographs I no longer have.

I want to look at these photographs again now. Places, faces, names long forgotten. It must have made sense to me at the time, but could you imagine throwing away precious photographs now?

Where might this week’s word take you?

Do you have some photographs that slipped away? The snap you didn’t take, the image that was all finger smudges rather than faces you’d like to look at again, or that photo wallet lost in a move or thrown away?

Can you capture the time in words instead?
